The ZL Field Day is a big event for NZART branches. Each year around 50 field stations compete for a range of awards.

Branch 50 NZART (Wellington Amateur Radio Club) operating under the ZL2WB callsign) activates Quartz Hill. For several years now ZL2WB has won the ZL2 competition against rival branches and has also gained the overall high score.

The NZART website has more details on the contest rules. Essentially, NZ contacts must be from field station to field station, and overseas contacts are limited to the Pacific Islands.

Listen out for us on 80M and 40M in February 2004.
