Until the mid-1990s, Quartz Hill was home to Radio New Zealand's MF receiving station. The site is now leased to the Wellington Amateur Radio Club. Being well endowed with 20 metre wooden poles, long-wire antennas, and ample accommodation, Quartz Hill is arguably the best HF DX facility in New Zealand!
